Glynn Academy graduate and St. Louis Cardinals closer Adam Wainwright, who recorded the final out in the World Series this year, will be honored during pre-game festivities at the Sea Island Company Golden Isles Bowl. Resolutions by the Brunswick City Commission and the Glynn County Commission will proclaim Saturday, December 2, 2006 as "Adam Wainwright Day" in Brunswick and Glynn County.

Brunswick and the Golden Isles of Georgia are home to one of the most prestigious junior college football bowl games in the country. On the first Saturday each December, two highly ranked and powerful junior college football teams meet in

The community of Brunswick and Glynn County, Georgia treat the teams to all of the sights, events, tours, banquets, and fun usually associated with major college bowl games. And it all goes to a good cause: all proceeds from the bowl game go directly to support middle school athletic and band programs in the Glynn County Public Schools.

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and community members, the support of the National Junior College Athletic Association, and the enthusiasm for the event shown by junior colleges across the country, more than 1,000 middle school student athletes in Glynn County will compete in athletic programs including football, boy's and girl's basketball, soccer, swimming, track, tennis, cheerleading, volleyball, and band.

The Sea Island Company Golden Isles Bowl Classic is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors that coordinates all functions associated with the game, as well as the game itself. The event is supported entirely through contributions and in-kind donations by the businesses and residents of Glynn County. With all administrative activities conducted on a volunteer or donated basis, every penny generated by the Golden Isles Bowl goes directly to middle school athletic and band programs.
